Murdoch Veterinary Student Association

Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to the Murdoch Veterinary Student Association (or MVSA) website. The aim of this site is to provide you with all the information you need to know about the MVSA. We have all the info you need to know about our committee, events, the SIGs and back-dated copies of the MOOS.
About Us:
The MVSA is a veterinary student run group tasked with providing the veterinary student body of Murdoch University with a plethora of events, equipment and support. Along with that we are the voice of the students when communicating to the Guild, Veterinary Science Teaching Staff and the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board.
We run a series of events throughout the year to help our student body cool down from the stresses of studying. One of our most frequently run and thoroughly enjoyed events is our TGFF - a.k.a. Thank God For Friday. This is an evening BBQ held on most Fridays with emphasis put toward running them just before each study break. However outside of these more frequent events we also hold more extravagant annual events such as the Barn Dance, Winter Dinner, Cocktail Party and our annual 2-day Vet Camp.
Additionally we circulate important news and details around the campus through our MVSA News emails. Furthermore we have our own e-newsletter that comes out every teaching week, the MOOS-paper: with tonnes of fun articles, interesting pieces on each SIG and editorials from students within the veterinary student body. Back issues of this MOOS are available on this website for you to look through and see what all the fuss is about!
Membership:
To become a member of the MVSA requires two things:
-
Enrolment in the Murdoch University Veterinary program
-
A membership fee ($50 per year OR $35 per semester. Final year students need only pay $25 for a year membership)
Having the membership entitles you to a fair few discounts when paying for tickets to our events. This helps us to pay for costs associated with each event as well as helping us to buy things to better the vet school and benefit our events. Being a member also entitles you to a copy of our MOOS sent out to your email every teaching week!
Acknowledgements:
Running the MVSA is a difficult challenge but luckily we have multiple avenues of support including our largest sponsor of Hill's Pet Food. Furthermore the teaching staff and the university as a whole are very supportive of our concerns and need to help students out with stress-down events like the Winter Dinner and Barn Dance - so a massive thank you goes out to them as well. Finally we must thank the students for supporting us throughout the years. We hope to continue fully representing and aiding you for many years to come :)
