President: Jess Diery

Why do I want to become a vet? I made the life decision to become a vet somewhere between the ages of 3-5years old so honestly I can’t pinpoint the exact reason. I guess I just loved my dog Lotto and my rabbit Snow Princess. What do you hope for this year? I hope to be happy and healthy. I know that sounds lame but over the past couple of months I’ve come to realise just how important those two things are.

I am a very quiet person until you get to know me; so I can come off cold and unfriendly, but that’s not really me so don’t be afraid to talk to me or ask questions. I am hardworking and love to do things outside. I enjoy helping other people and being involved with groups at uni, obviously I am involved in MVSA but I am also the equine interest group president and on the bovine interest group committee.

I suppose my physical profile would be something along the lines of: 166cms (at best), Female, Brown hair, Fair skin with freckles… Aside from that, my favourite past time is eating, I enjoy riding my horse ‘Country’ (yep, he came with that name) and I like to have a good laugh  Why did you decide on vet? I’ve always enjoyed problem solving, so combining this with my passion for large animals, improving animal health and production -Vet Science was a no-brainer.

I’m normally the one to break the awkward silence when a teacher asks for someone to volunteer to go first. I am easy to approach and generally try to bring happy vibes to everything, but this can be hard around exam time. When I’m not working or studying I enjoy going to the beach, snorkelling, rock climbing, going out in the city or making food Why do you want to be a vet? For me, being a vet was the way that I could bring together my love of science and understanding how a body works.

I am charismatic, fun-loving, approachable and friendly. Additionally, I am a loyal and trustworthy friend. I am, however, a perfectionist and a stress-head during exams Why become a vet? I felt it was the perfect career option for me. Medicine and science have always interested me but humans are gross. Naturally I have always loved animals and wanted to challenge myself intellectually.

I am fun and outgoing, always up for a chat. I’m mostly chilled out, except when I become a crazy stress head around exam time! Planning is one of my specialties, hence Events Coordinator. I also enjoy sport, caring for my elderly dog and a cheeky beverage now and again. Why did you want to become a vet? I’ve wanted to be a vet since about six, thanks to the legends Dr Harry Cooper and James Herriot. Since I happened to be good at science and found animals to be amazing, it was a good fit!

In all honesty I’m an oddball and I’m well aware of it  I love to have fun and honestly don’t take things too seriously, I love seeing people happy because it just becomes infectious, from one person’s smile. I can be a tad pushy but it’s just because I like having everyone on track. Importantly I never solely take over but rather equally spread out the work. Honestly I’m just a fun loving guy who is pretty easy to get along with. :D
